The sixth day of our Hawaiian adventure was the pinnacle for me – a day I had eagerly awaited for one reason: snorkeling. We opted for Sail Maui, and let me tell you, it was a stellar decision. This company delivers an experience that’s nothing short of exceptional, coupling it with top-notch service, all at a surprisingly fair price of $180 per person.
Due to the recent wildfires’ impact on Lahaina, they’ve temporarily shifted operations to Ma’alaea Harbor.
We began our day with a scenic 40-minute drive from our Kihei condo to Lahaina. The route itself was a treat, offering tantalizing glimpses of the ocean as we wound along. In Lahaina, we indulged in a leisurely stop at a quaint coffee shop, savoring delicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee while soaking in the island vibes.
Stepping onto the vessel marked the start of sheer tranquility. The crew welcomed us with breakfast sandwiches and juice as we set sail for our snorkeling haven. En route, the scenery was nothing short of breathtaking – deep blue waters, lush greenery, and majestic mountainous cliffs dotted the landscape.

But the real magic unfolded about 40 minutes into our excursion when the crew spotted a grey whale and her calf. An awe-inspiring sight made even more special considering these gentle giants typically bid adieu by the end of May.
Arriving at our snorkel spot, we spent a blissful hour amidst a coral paradise, surrounded by a vibrant array of fish. Submerging my head, I was treated to a symphony of underwater life – the sounds of fish nibbling away that mimicked the crackling of pop rocks.

Returning was as delightful as the journey out. The crew surprised us with a delectable chicken dish and cocktails for the adults (21+), elevating our dining experience to some of the best on the trip. The catamaran’s netting allowed us to lounge over the water, adding an extra layer of perfection to an already incredible day. We savored the moment, reclining as the captain serenaded us with an A-grade playlist.

Initially doubtful about sailing due to the calm winds, luck favored us, and the crew skillfully unfurled the sails. We glided on the wind, adding the final touch to a magical experience. Sail Maui surpassed all expectations, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Stay tuned for my next post, where I’ll share our moving experience at Pearl Harbor. Until then, safe travels and happy reading!
Warm regards,
